So- welcome to my online journal that you have so luckily stumbled upon. I am a twenty-six year old 5th grade teacher in West Hartford, Connecticut. I've known I wanted to be a teacher since I was in the second grade, and now that I have lived out my dream it is not anything like I imagined it to be--and I would not trade it for the world.
I have lofty goals for myself and my students, so stop back to check out some of the issues I feel are most important in this crazy, ever-changing world of education.
Welcome to the world of blogging! According to the Merriam-Webster, blog is short for Weblog which was first used in 1999. Blog definition, "A Web site on which someone writes about personal opinions, activities, and experiences." Looking forward to learning with you as you begin to share your experiences with the world!
ReplyDeleteI love your explanation of a blog! I recently had to explain it to my co-workers because we are in the process of setting up an interstate blog for a reading unit on persuasive writing. I love how you said it was a journal, but now it has me thinking about my own personal blog... It's like a diary, but you can't control who reads it! Is that scary? Oh the importance of considering our audience... I'm sure that's in the CCSS somewhere...
ReplyDeleteI too have tried, and failed to teach m mother about what blogging is. I love this blog so far. It is so upbeat and your personality really shines through! It makes me rethink my ideas...
ReplyDeleteI also told my mom about my blog and she understood the idea but can't understand why people would blog instead of using facebook. To prove my point, I attempted to get her own blog up and running before she left for vacation. I told her it would be a journal/scrapbook of her trip. Unfortunately, she was too worried about packing the right shoes and we ran out of teaching time. Maybe when she gets back!
